AFFORDABLE COOPERATIVE HOUSING ROOTED IN SUSTAINABILITY AND COMMUNITY
Cultivate’s role: architect & sustainable advisor
In Design | Eugene, Oregon
Expanding upon SquareOne Villages’ shared-equity ownership model, Our Village builds on the successes of Rosa Village and Peace Village, marking our fourth collaboration with SquareOne to provide affordable housing in the Eugene area.
The project broadens the range of housing types offered within these communities, now including studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units. As with our previous villages, the community is organized around generous, walkable greenspaces. The site design thoughtfully balances housing density with strong connections to nature and community-centered courtyards. Each home includes a functional front porch or balcony, offering visual connections to shared outdoor spaces and landscaping.
Located on a former church property whose congregation was inspired by our earlier collaborations, this 44-unit campus will create homeownership opportunities for low-income households (<80% AMI) through a limited-equity housing cooperative and community land trust.
Consistent with our commitment to sustainability, Our Village combines our signature energy-efficient construction with a robust PV solar installation, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible at the intersection of affordability and sustainable design.
